Well, it seems it’s October already!
That’s October 2013!
Over a full year since I last posted! … meep.
Well, let’s remedy that, shall we my dears?
Killing Spree!
Not to be repetitive but
IT’S OCTOBER!
There are few people who love this month more than I do. I have no
proof of this, but I have no disproof either. Ergo, I am right. And given that
I am now the official #1 Fan of October, it is my duty to sprinkle spooky dust
on all the little children across the land and bring a little slaughter laughter slaughter to everyone’s day.
With all of the horrifying hack-tivities taking place, it’s a good
thing you’re already prepared not to sleep anytime soon…
TODAY
(Thursday, October 10, 2013)
What better way to spend a delightfully rainy Thursday evening in
October than at a comedy club?
Normally, the answer would be, “Any other
way.” But right now I am serious when I say I can think of nothing
creepier (in the best kind of way) than checking out Comedy Club’s opening reception tonight.
Apparently, the audience is peppered with an audience of thirty (that’s THREE-ZERO)…
baby dolls… that laugh and coo at the jokes.
The website does not mention anything about what happens if you bomb,
though, so don’t make any quips about dummies.

Hitchcock-tober
Ok. So maybe public interactions aren’t quite
your thing. Maybe the idea of standing up in room full of strangers, with all
of their eyes boring into you, seeing through the façade of calmness you have
built around yourself to protect your fragile psyche from occasions such as
this one, feeling their thoughts of mockery and rejection and disappointment spear
your sense of self-worth, as you try to utter the words that are quickly
escaping from your tongue and becoming pure nonsense, as you want nothing more
than to hide yourself in a black pit of despair, away from any recognition by
another being, away from…
Sorry. Got off track there for a moment.
Anyway, Village East Cinema is playing
Hitchcock movies through October. Tonight is “The Man Who Knew Too Much”. Check
the website for the full schedule of films from the original horror master.
There’s also a movie called “The Dirties” that
looks intriguing.
Check them out.
I promise I won’t be in the back row staring at
you the whole time.

The Beast with Five Fingers
No, that’s not my nickname. It’s a film. Shut
up. I hate you.
“Robert Florey, master of expressionist horror,
helms this creepy, crawly classic chiller in which a dead pianist’s severed
hand comes back to terrorize his resentful secretary (Lorre). Impressive
special effects (including a disembodied hand tickling the ivories) and stylish
camerawork lend loads of Gothic atmosphere, while Lorre, scheming and squirming
throughout, is at his schizoid, bug-eyed best.”
Here’s a trailer. Seriously, shut up.

The Pumpkin Pie Show
This picture has nothing to do with the show. I just put it here because PUMPKIN PIE. |
"Clay McLeod Chapman’s The Pumpkin Pie Show returns with a fresh
slice of brand new campfire tale telling. In true Halloween spirit(s), this
year’s show tackles a whole bevy of everyday horrors, including a case of
post-partum depression that quickly descends into Edgar Allan Poe-style
madness, possessed hair extensions, haunted vinyl, masturbating in the middle
of a Broadway matinee of Phantom of the Opera, and much, much more literary
depravity."
You had me at “Pumpkin Pie.”
The show opens tonight and
continues to October 26.
Time: 8 PM
Run time: 1.5 hours
Tickets: $15 - $18

There’s tons more… there’s too much more… it’s overwhelming and I don’t
have the money for it all, so I’m selling my soul to the devil (he’s got box
seats to all of them… ALL OF THEM).
I want to post this, so more later on upcoming/ongoing events. I
promise dreads deads dears!
